404 error shop art - I worked on a project called Shop Shutter Art back in 2009, so this looks doubly cool to me.

My favourite Christmas card ever
I found this in the present tags box back home a few years ago, and something about it really struck me - a combination of the woodcut effect, the Norse style, the unusual framing.
Merry Christmas

Jules Bastien-Lepage - Joan of Arc (1880)
I saw this in the Metropolitan Museum in New York in 2005. I stood and stared at it for five minutes or more - it really looks like a photograph.

John Constable - Hadleigh Castle (1828-9)
This doesn’t look much like the Constable of The Hay Wain (though I like that picture too). He had sketched out the idea for the picture in 1814, but he painted it just after his wife died. It’s absolutely desolate.

William Blake - Nebuchadnezzar (c.1795)

This is the picture that got me interested in art. I kept an art blog for 9 months while I explored the galleries of London.

Albrecht Duerer - Study of a Hare (1502)

Looks great on the page, but in real life it’s hard to believe a human could ever create such a thing.
